NEW ZONING BYLAW/OCP

The RM of Montrose/Vanscoy is beginning a major project to update our Official Community Plan (OCP) and Zoning Bylaw. These documents are the most important tools we have to guide how our community grows and changes.

What are these documents?

The Official Community Plan (OCP) sets the long-term goals for the RM. It outlines how we manage growth, protect farmland, and prioritize services.

The Zoning Bylaw contains the specific development regulations (like site sizes and permitted uses) that make the OCP’s vision a reality.

Why are we doing this now?

These planning documents are intended to be reviewed and updated every 10 years to ensure they stay relevant. It is time for us to update our plans to reflect the current reality of the RM. Whether it is new pressures on agriculture, demand for country residential acreages, or commercial development, we need to ensure our rules reflect the current needs of our residents for the next decade.

This survey is just the beginning. Once we have gathered your feedback, we will draft the new plans and come back to the community for review. Watch for announcements regarding Open Houses and Town Hall meetings later this year.
